Frida Giannini collaborates with Mark Ronson on the new Gucci Icon-Temporary Flash sneaker store project
A flash sneaker store that will travel the world starting in New York. For this unique retail initiative, Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini has collaborated with award-winning musical artist Mark Ronson on the design of a limited edition collection of Gucci Ronson sneakers.
A new limited edition Gucci Ronson sneaker will be introduced at each international destination of the tour, in addition to an exclusive edition of 18 sneaker styles in the GUCCI ICON-TEMPORARY sneaker collection. The collection includes 16 men’s styles and 2 women’s styles, incorporating classic Gucci design signatures, such as the GG logo or a stylized version of the iconic Gucci red and green web detail. Each design includes silver or gold metal dog tags as well as an embroidered ‘Limited Edition’ label inscribed inside the shoe. Customers’ initials can be embossed onto a customized leather tag on the shoe laces, if desired.
Conceived as true collector’s items, each GUCCI ICON-TEMPORARY sneaker comes with unique packaging designed specifically for each city on the international tour. The limited edition Gucci Ronson sneaker will also have its own exclusive packaging.
Giannini has developed an eye-catching GUCCI ICON-TEMPORARY store design with interiors coated in a slick white gloss and an oversized red and green web band that wraps around its perimeter.
The first GUCCI ICON-TEMPORARY store debuted on Crosby Street in New York in October 2009, and opened in Miami's Design District on December 1st. It will remain open for two weeks and then move to London and Tokyo in Spring 2010.
